Over a week??
I can't believe it has been over a week since I have blogged. I have written about three different blogs in my head but just haven't had a minute to put them down in print. Last week I guess was just a very busy week. I must share I had a "first" last week. I think it was Wednesday or Thursday (all my days seem to run together). We had a cold spell. That's what us Floridians call it. "A cold spell" we say this because we never have cold weather for any length of time, but just for a "spell". So I take Soccer Girl to school that morning or rather she takes me (remember she is driving now) and we go out to the car and there is an ice coating on the windows. You can't see a thing. So we do what every other Florida person does we get in the car turn on the heat and wait a minute or two....or three or four. But the ice was not going anywhere and we had to get her to school or she would be late. So I vaguely remembered hearing stories from my family and friends in colder states about using a credit card to scrape the windows if you don't have an "ice scraper thingy" and yes believe it or not we don't own an "ice scraper thingy". So out she went (Soccer Girl of course I am the elder so now she must go out into the cold) to scrape the windshield with a credit card. Who would of thought de-icing a windshield in Florida?? I even had to turn the heat on in the house for more than a couple of hours and that never happens. I am happy to say we are back to warmer weather. Although the cold spell was nice for a change. Because if you remember I am the same girl who complained all last summer about it being SOOOO hot. I know, I know, hard to please that's me.......

Sunday, Sunny Sunday...
It is gorgeous today. Sunny and cool, but not to cool. The girls are outside playing softball with the neighborhood kids. ( I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't end up with a broken window. The Englishman made them use a tennis ball instead of a softball for better odds) We just signed them up for softball yesterday (the two younger ones) and they are so excited. They have never played softball before so it should be interesting. Of course softball is just as expensive as other sports by the time you buy the bat, the glove and the helmet. Luckily we already had cleats from soccer. If we didn't have kids we would be rich. LOL (and very selfish and bored.... hmm that sounds nice) (Just Kidding) Soccer Girl is sailing today with my Aunt it is the perfect day for it. Guess what I have on the agenda LAUNDRY, LAUNDRY and more LAUNDRY. Doesn't that sound like fun????

Aliens among us......
Yesterday, Mighty Mouth spent the day at her friends house. She had a great time. Apparently, on the news there was a segment about some UFO sightings. I believed they turned out to have something to do with a flare gun. Well, after hearing this the girls decided to go on the Internet and look up things about Aliens. Their website of choice was ASK.com. (the joy of having older sisters who introduce you to the wonders of the Internet) ASK.com is right up there with "you tube" and "Webkins" as some of Mighty Mouth's favorite sites. They then looked up photographs and became fascinated. My friend (her friend's Mom) shared with me that they even went so far as to create a landing strip for Alien Aircraft out of sidewalk chalk in the driveway. And just in case the Aliens got confused they even wrote in the middle "Aliens Land Here" After telling me all this about her exciting alien enlightened day I accidentally devastated her. What you ask could I possibly say that would send her running to her room tears streaming down her face?
I told her that Aliens (at least the ones in those pictures) were not real. Now normally I am not one to inhibit a child's imagination so I must defend my actions. The reason I felt the need to let her in on this fact is that she is the same child who even at the ripe old age of nine finds herself at least once a week on the floor of our room in the middle of the night with pillow and blanket. So to spare her the discomfort of our floor last evening, I thought it only the right thing to do.
WRONG.........
I quickly found myself telling her in hopes of drying those heartbroken tears that "maybe they are real, and Mommy might be wrong" to which she replied "well I hope the picture of the baby alien is real because Mom it is SO CUTE".........

Stopping to smell the rain...
Here is a copy of an email I sent to the parents of my little one's today. I wanted to share it here because it reminded me of seeing the world through the eyes of children. I think it is important that I try to notice the little things in my life and appreciate them. Hopefully you will too.
We decided to stay home today because we knew it was going to be yucky outside. Plus when I asked the older kids what they wanted to do, they wanted to stay home and play. I think they have really missed all playing together. We have been on the go so much the beginning of this week and haven't had a lot of "free play". They had been playing all morning when suddenly I noticed they had stopped and were looking out the window at the rain. All three fascinated. They then broke out into a chorus of "rain, rain go away" I quickly took their picture and was reminded again why I love my job. I would have never noticed that it had started raining if they had not been here to share it with me. So we sat and watched the rain for awhile. It was great...........

Happy New Year
Well, here we are back to life. School is back in and I am back to work. New Years Eve was a blast. Here are some pictures. I love the one of some of the kids with their "pretend" champagne toast. I even bought them the little plastic champagne flutes and let them use my wine charms to keep track of their cup. While it was wonderful being off it is kind of nice to get back to our routine. I missed my little one's like crazy and was so surprised when no one cried for their Mommy's this morning. I guess that means they missed me too (or each other) LOL Our weather has been beautiful, of course I would prefer that it be a little cooler (my air conditioning is still on). Just trying to keep up with my New Years Resolution to be more organized. I have tried the losing weight thing a million times in the past so I don't bother anymore. Don't get me wrong, I am always trying. Anyway, I realized that I lose a lot of time because I am not organized. If I would learn to get organized things would go smoother and I would not feel as stressed and I would not spend so much time looking for things. I can't tell you the amount of time I have lost looking for something I have misplaced. It is soooo frustrating. So that is this years resolution. Wish me luck I will need it.....................
